Biography

Tim Davison is a partner in the Firm's Corporate Practice Group. He advises entrepreneurs, investors, private and public companies on a wide range of complex cross-border transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate venture capital, venture capital, and private equity. Tim’s practice areas include technology and telecommunications, media and entertainment, life sciences and healthcare.

Tim also has significant experience drafting and advising on a variety of cross-border commercial matters for clients in the technology, life sciences and media sectors, including manufacturing agreements, strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, software as a service (SaaS) agreements, joint development agreements, and supply of goods and services agreements.

Energy Tech – Advised Libertine, a developer of Linear Generator technology, on its £9 million initial public offering.

Technology – Advised RealVNC, a leading provider of remote access software, on its sale to Livingbridge, mid-market private equity investors.

Telecoms and IT – Advised Vodafone on its commercial joint venture with Everything Everywhere and Telefonica for digital wallet and related products and services.

IT Security – Advised on Europe’s largest private equity deal in the IT sector in 2010, advising Sophos plc on the sale by the Founders and TA Associates to Apax for $830 million.

Life Sciences – Advised Aviva Ventures on its Series B investment into Owlstone Medical, a U.K.-based cancer diagnostics technology company.

Robotics Technology – Advised ABB Technology Ventures on its Series A and Series B investments into Cambridge Medical Robotics, a U.K.-based surgical robotics company.

Digital Technology – Advised a listed Asian corporation on the sale of two of their U.K. subsidiaries, the first being a digital optical technology company and the second being a 3D graphics semiconductor company.

Content Media – Advised Acorn Media Group on the acquisition of a majority stake in Agatha Christie Limited and then on the sale of Acorn Media Group to NYSE-listed RLJ Entertainment for $105 million.

Energy Technology – Advised Faraday Grid Ltd on a large array of matters including a number of funding rounds, including a £25 million series A financing round by an investment vehicle of Adam Neumann, the co-founder and ex-CEO of WeWork.

Fintech – Advised AV8 Ventures, backed by the Allianz Group, on investments in two companies including M·QUBE, a fintech company disrupting the U.K.’s mortgage industry by reducing the time needed to receive mortgage approvals.

Alternative Energy – Advised Sasol New Energy on its £15 million corporate venturing investment in Oxis Energy, a U.K. batteries technology company.

Commercial – Advising an IT technology company, based in the U.S. and U.K., on various joint development and licensing arrangements with some of the world’s largest IT and media service providers.

Autonomous Vehicles – Advised a U.K. corporate venture on its Series B investment into a Silicon Valley based sensor technology company.

Content Media – Advised a large U.S. listed group on its acquisition of a children’s television channel, and a 10-year joint venture for the distribution of children’s TV content.

Alternative Energy – Advised a U.K. electric motors company on its corporate venturing funding by and joint venture with a global engineering group.

Life Sciences – Advised Cambridge Cognition Holdings plc on its IPO on AIM and associated fundraising.
