Authors: Tristan Axelrod and David Mawhinney
Tristan Axelrod, a Brown Rudnick Associate in the Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Practice Group, co-authored the article “The COVID-19 Stimulus Bill and Pension Liability: A Lifeline for Underfunded Multiemployer Pension Plans.” The piece was published in American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) Journal. In the article, the authors discuss the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which was signed into law in March 2021. While some details of the bill remain subject to the regulatory discretion of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp, the article states that “there is little doubt that its implementation will alter the restructuring playing field for years to come.”
Tristan focuses his practice on bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings and related litigation. He provides legal assistance, on a pro bono basis, to individuals who are unable to afford private counsel in connection with bankruptcy and housing matters. Tristan serves as Chair of the 175 Beacon St. Tenants’ Association and as Co-Chair of the Boston Bar Association (BBA) Bankruptcy Law Steering Committee. Tristan was selected to join the 2021 class of the BBA Public Interest Leadership Program. The ABI is a multi-disciplinary, nonpartisan organization devoted to bankruptcy issues.
